"THE EXPRESSIVE POT" : Jack Troy workshop in Bremerton, WA

  • Olympic College Rotunda 1600 Chester Avenue Bremerton, WA, 98337 United States (map)

Event Description: Jack Troy in this NCECA pre-conference event: offers you the essential tools needed to craft jars, tea bowls, cups and vases. Jack’s demonstration will serve to explain not only what he makes but why; how he thinks about where pieces go in the kiln; the forces of fire and the weather it creates. “Firing has everything to do with what I make”; in the front: heavy weather, dark and hot, in the middle: thinning out, in the back: cooler and swirling. “Action is what I think about, experiments and exchanging information”. Jack will demonstrate wheel work, making tea bowls, cylindrical forms, vases and functional work the first day; trim and alter, carving and texture the second day. His works are infused with poetry and the love of what he does; “It’s why I get up in the morning”.
